Some of you may feel that there isn’t enough time in the day to exercise, but when something really important comes up in our lives, we need to find a way to fit it into our crazy schedule! Exercising is extremely vital for both men and women in order to maintain good health. I recommend using a planner or phone calendar to schedule your workouts and mark them down as you would an appointment.

The average male and female should get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. I know some of you are thinking, “well how am I supposed to fit in 150 minutes’ worth of exercise?” Well, you don’t have to accomplish all of this in one day. I recommend putting aside 20-30 minutes a day solely for exercising and getting your heart rate up. You can accumulate that total of 150 minutes within five days, leaving yourself two other days of rest and stretching. It’s also important to remember that working out doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym. Here’s a list of some ways to exercise without a gym:

  • Walk when possible
  • Take the stairs
  • Do bodyweight exercises
  • Take advantage of free at-home workout videos on YouTube
  • Go for a bike ride
  • Run on the trail
